As promised, here is a recipe for savory pancake cooking: Roasted Pork with Apple, Radish and Jalapeno Slaw and Hard Cider Drizzle on Fall Squash Pancakes.
I’m excited because I have a feeling that you’re going to love this recipe.
It’s sweet, savory and spicy and full of fall flavors.
You just can’t go wrong with pancakes topped with the earthiness of a simple roasted pork shoulder, sweet and spicy slaw and a drizzle of gingery, garlicky hard cider. YUMMY!
It also uses my Why My Fall Squash Pancakes are the Best Thing Since Sliced Bread pancake recipe.
Don’t have roast pork for your savory pancake cooking? That’s okay. Shred leftover turkey (perfect for the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday) or use rotisserie chicken.
Don’t have apples for the slaw? Fine. Use pears, cabbage or kale. It’ll still be yummy and pair well with the flavor combo. Just don’t skip the slaw. The crunchy contrast is beautiful with the soft pancakes and pork.
And if you don’t want to use hard apple cider, then don’t. Use regular apple cider or switch in your favorite lager or ale. The drizzle is like the ice cream on the hot apple pie. It just gives it that perfect finishing touch.
It really is an easy forgiving recipe that inspired the imagination. Cooking is more than just feeding yourself. It’s also about the enjoyment of eating something tasty. And the social aspect. Good food joins people. But that doesn’t mean cooking has to be hard.
Take this recipe using Roasted Pork, Apple Carrot and Jalapeno Slaw and Hard Cider drizzle on Fall Squash Pancakes.
It sounds complicated but it’s not. I’ve already given you easy ways to switch up the ingredients. As far as the cooking goes, you chop up a few veggies to make the slaw, reduce the cider into a sauce, shred a little meat and make some pancakes.
Not hard at all!
And it’s healthy. You have whole wheat, superfood fall squash, apples, carrots and jalapeno. Yay, for both extremely tasty and healthy. I don’t know about you but I like healthy food that tastes good and makes me feel like I’m cheating on my diet. This is one of those dishes. Guilt free enjoyment is what I call it.
Not to mention everyone will love it, including the kids. Afterall, who doesn’t love pancakes!
Don’t forget to buy extra hard cider or regular for the young ones.
I look forward to hearing about your savory pancake cooking adventures and your thoughts on the Roasted Pork with Apple, Carrot and Jalapeno Slaw and Hard Cider Drizzle on Fall Squash Pancakes. Please leave me a comment.
