Did you know the average American eats 4,500 calories on Thanksgiving Day?
I knew I ate too much on T-Day because of my painful tummy but never realized it could potentially be that many calories until I was reading one of those pesky statistics reports on food and Thanksgiving.
Ouch! No wonder my tummy always hurts.
Thanksgiving is one of those days of the years that I get to show off my cooking skills, so I always go all out. I use heavy cream and plenty of butter. It’s normally the one day a year I give myself to eat what I want and be guilt free.
But after seeing that statistic, I’m doing things differently this year.
This year is all about revamping the old favorites into yummy healthier versions of the old one or finding completely new favorites.
There’s nothing wrong with a little change. Plus it’ll be fun because I get to try out some new dishes.
Since I’m switching things up, I’m also going to look for easy to make with fewer ingredients.
Simple, tasty and healthy.
That’s the motto for this Thanksgiving.
Although I am still having a nice piece of pumpkin pie with real whipped cream.
For those that want to join me, here’s a list of healthier side dishes perfect for the holiday table. The count of these 12 ingredients or less Thanksgiving side dishes includes salt, pepper and oil.
Not only are these 12 ingredients or less Thanksgiving side dishes recipes simpler, easier and tastier but they will still WOW your Thanksgiving guests.
And for a bonus, you spend less time in the kitchen and more time with them (for some that may not be a bonus, so feel free to “pretend” to be cooking in the kitchen if you feel the need).
